Czech driver Dennis Waszek from the GT2 Motorsport team is set to return to the GT Cup Series this season, which kicks off at the Red Bull Ring in May. Last year’s champion in the GTC class is expected to be back behind the wheel of his well-known Lamborghini Huracán.
Waszek has been competing in the GT Cup Series for many years, securing multiple wins and championships. This year, he plans to enter the sprint races with his Lamborghini. As for endurance racing, where he previously drove a BMW M6 GT3 with Racing Trevor, the situation remains open.
“In endurance racing, it depends on the agreement—either with the BMW or something else,” Waszek said in an interview for the ceskeokruhy.cz website.
He already kicked off his 2025 season in January as part of the driver lineup for the Scuderia Praha team in the 24 Hours of Dubai. “It was my first time driving the Ferrari 296. It was a lot about getting to know the car and the circuit—everything was new. But I really enjoyed it.”
As he tried a different brand from his usual Lamborghini, he admitted that sooner or later, he will need to look for a newer car. “Lamborghini is ending Huracán production, and in 2026, its successor, the Lamborghini Temerario, will make its debut. By then, our car will be more or less a historic vehicle,” he hinted at the necessary change in the near future.
While Waszek has been a regular contender in the GTC class, he is considering a switch to the GTX class, which has open technical regulations allowing a variety of different cars. What attracts him to this category is that he wouldn’t have to use restrictors that limit engine power. “We’ll see how the discussions go,” Waszek added.
